MIAMI Fla. – FIU's
Sifa Joyeuse has been named as the Conference USA Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, for the period ending Dec. 4, conference officials announced on Monday.
FIU went a perfect 2-0 last week after earning victories over Florida National University and Kennesaw State University. The Panthers have pushed their overall record over the .500 mark at 4-3.
Joyeuse recorded her first career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a dominating win over FNU, 96-38. She also notched three steals vs. the Conquistadors.
After this week's performance, Joyeuse is fourth in C-USA in scoring (16.8) through seven games. She was a combined 4-of-9 from behind the arc in the two games and continues to lead Conference USA with 22 three-pointers made while ranking second in the conference with a 39% three-point percentage.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will have a nine day stretch of no games until they return to action Tuesday, Dec. 13 when they take on in-state rival, Florida Atlantic University. This will be the first Conference USA game this season for the Panthers and tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at FAU Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+
