Women’s Tennis Cruises to 4-0 Win at Long Island University

Panthers take doubles point and clinch win with victories in No. 2, 3 and 6 singles

Box Score SYOSSET, N.Y. – The FIU women's tennis team posted its second consecutive victory with a convincing 4-0 victory over Long Island University on Friday afternoon in Syosset, N.Y.
 
The Panthers claimed wins in two of the three doubles matches to claim the tandem point, before sealing the match victory with triumphs in the No. 2, 3 and 6 singles competition.
 
Kamila Umarova and Andjela Skrobonja teamed up for a 6-1 victory in the No. 1 doubles clash and Kristina Miletic and Andreea Velcea tabbed a 6-2 victory at No. 3.
 
Freshman Yasmine Kabbaj continued her solid play with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in No. 2 singles.  Skrobonja tabbed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 and Miletic also closed out LIU's Kate Jorjoliani in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 match.
 
The win improves the Panthers' mark in dual matches to 2-1 overall.

The Panthers return to action with a dual match at Columbia on Saturday, Feb. 5 that is slated for a 1 p.m. ET start in Westchester, N.Y.
