CORAL GABLES, Fla (April 9, 2022) - FIU track and field completed action at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational, with a pair of victories in field events highlighting Saturday for the Panthers.
Sophomore
Rhema Otabor, who holds the third best mark in the NCAA in the javelin, earned the win in the event with a throw of 53.79m. Otabor defeated competitors from Penn State, Oklahoma, and Princeton.
In the shot put, Marquesha Weeks turned in a personal best performance with a throw of 14.83m, which puts her at third all-time in the FIU outdoor record books.
Queshun Watson-Riggins saw success in the long jump, placing third with a mark of 7.57m.
On the distance side,
Eliseo Torres turned in an impressive performance in the 3000, placing third in a field of 14 runners with a time of 9:00.41.
The Panthers will now turn their attention to the Tom Jones Invite, hosted by the University of Florida next weekend.
