BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The FIU softball team was dealt an 8-0 setback on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a weekend series at Western Kentucky.
WKU took a 2-0 lead in the second on a solo homer by Jordan Ridge and added another score when Taylor Sanders scampered home on a wild pitch.
The Hilltoppers closed out the game with a six-run fifth that was punctuated by a grand slam off the bat of Sanders.

Alexys Lawson combined to allow eight runs, seven of which were earned and seven hits over 4.1 innings of work.
Shelby Nunn (14-5) limited the Panthers to three hits – all singles – and no runs, while striking out two and walking none.
The loss marks FIU's eighth straight and drops the Panthers' record to 15-20 overall and 1-8 in the conference loop. Western Kentucky improves to 25-7 on the season and 9-3 in league action.
UP NEXT: The Panthers return home next weekend for a three-game C-USA series against Middle Tennessee State beginning on Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. ET.
