FIU Men's Soccer Claims C-USA Sport Academic Award

Panthers post league's highest team GPA among men's soccer

DALLAS, Texas (July 8, 2022) - FIU men's soccer continues to exemplify excellence both on and off the pitch, as the program was honored with Conference USA's Sport Academic Award. 

The C-USA Sport Academic Award honors one team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the 2021-22 academic year.

Under head coach Kyle Russell, the Panthers posted a team GPA of 3.42 in 2021-22.

For the spring semester, FIU men's soccer tied for the highest team GPA among male sports on campus with a mark of 3.49. During the 2021 Fall semester, the Panthers posted a 3.35 team GPA, marking the highest GPA among male sports on campus. 
 
Earlier this spring, the men's soccer program saw 11 of its student-athletes earn a spot on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year. Additionally, FIU men's soccer had six of its student-athletes maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher and claim the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.

At the conclusion of the 2021 season, Panthers Kareem Riley and David Garcia were named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
