FIU Men’s Soccer Moves to No. 21 in College Soccer News Poll

Panthers are coming off a 3-0 victory against then No. 10 Tulsa

MIAMI (Sept. 20, 2022) – FIU Men's Soccer moved up three sports in the latest College Soccer News (CSN) Men's Top 30 National Poll to No. 21 after being ranked No. 24 last week.
 
FIU is the only Florida program ranked in the CSN poll, and one of five American Athletic Conference programs to be ranked or receiving votes. The Panthers also appeared at No. 22 in the latest Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 poll.
 
The Blue and Gold are 4-2 on the season, having already played five ranked or receiving votes teams in 2022. FIU also has three wins against ranked opponents, beating both St. John's and UNC on the road and most recently taking down then No. 10 Tulsa last week by a score of 3-0.
 
Senior Stephen Afrifa is once again on pace to be one of the best forwards in the nation with five goals and two assists to his name already in 2022. Afrifa netted a brace in the Panthers' upset victory over Tulsa, earning American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week (Sept. 19).

The Panthers are back on the road this week with another conference match as they take on No. 25 SMU Friday, September 23. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. EST. Watch the match live on ESPN+.
