DALLAS, Texas – FIU men's basketball's Arturo Dean was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week presented by Blenders Eyewear for the second straight week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The nod comes after Dean averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.5 steals over FIU's two games versus FAU and Western Kentucky last week.

Dean opened the week recording 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals to help FIU nearly knock off league leader FAU in a 77-73 OT thriller last Thursday (Jan. 11). The Miami, Fla., native then stuffed the stat sheet in Saturday's contest at Western Kentucky, tallying a game-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including a season-best 2-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc (40.0%), while recording career-highs of nine rebounds and five steals to pair with three assists and a block.

Dean leads the Conference USA in steals per game (2.4) and steals (41), while ranking 13th and 16th in the nation for the categories, respectively. Additionally, Dean is second in scoring amongst the Panthers at 12.5 points per game, while ranking fourth among the C-USA in field goal percentage (46.7%).
