DALLAS, Texas – FIU men's basketball standout freshman
Arturo Dean added his third Conference USA Freshman of the Week honor presented by Blenders Eyewear in four weeks, as announced by the Conference USA on Monday afternoon, as the recognition also marks FIU's fourth straight week having a Panther selected for freshman of the week nods.
Dean, a Miami native, collects his third weekly award this season amongst an exceptional freshman campaign through 22 games and 13 starts, helping lift FIU to an undefeated week with crucial league wins over Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee to move to 5-6 within the C-USA.

Through two wins, Dean averaged 10.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 3.5 steals to help power FIU to its 10
th win inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center this season. The freshman guard poured in 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, to pair with six rebounds, six assists and three steals in a 78-69 victory over Western Kentucky on Thursday (Jan. 26). Dean then followed with a solid all-around performance in 33 minutes of action in FIU's 82-74 win over Middle Tennessee on Saturday (Jan. 28), tallying six points, a career-high seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.
Dena has excelled this season defensively, leading the Conference USA and ranked fourth in the nation in steals (55), while ranking seventh in the nation for steals per game (2.5). The freshman has reached doubles figures in 14 games this season, ranked second on the squad in scoring at 11.6 points per game.
