COLUMBIA, Mo. – The FIU swimming and diving team capped the final day of the Mizzou Invitational with more record-breaking performances and NCAA qualifying marks, while the Panthers tallied a total of 559 points as a team and finished in third place overall.
Day three was highlighted in the pool by senior
Christie Chue as she swam her way to a first-place finish in the 200 breast A-Final for a time of 2:08.95. The mark sits seventh best in the nation, while notching a NCAA B Standard cut, and just few tenths of a second off her personal best set at the NCAA Championships this past March.
On the diving side, sophomore
Ruska Lehtonen scored a 227.03 for a fourth-place finish on the platforms.
Senior
Ellie Maradyn had a solid performance in the water Friday, placing fourth in the 200 breast A-Final, logging a time of 2:13.90. She then followed up with a sixth-place finish in the 1650 free, posting a time of 16:48.00, which is a personal best for the senior and is fourth-best time in program history.
Graduate student
Delaine Goll rang up a second-place finish in the B-Final for the 200 Breast for a time of 2:15.17.
FIU capped off the night with the 400 Free Relay as the team of Chue,
Ana Luiza Daisson,
Oumy Diop, and
Diana Santamaria marked a third-place performance, logging a time of 3:19.39.
Linnea Gipperth swam in the 200 back B-Final for a fourth-place finish, posting a time of 2:00.25. Santamaria logged a 50.02 in the 100 Free A-Final.
