The Panthers fell 85-62 in their season opener at Big 12-foe UCF on Monday, Nov. 6. Dashon Gittens led the scoring with 11 points and added two assists and two steals. Petar Krivokapic scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, adding five rebounds. Javaunte Hawkins knocked down all three of his three-point attempts and finished with nine points.
FIU posted an 11-7 record at home in 2022-23 and will look to continue its home success against the visiting Texans.

Tarleton State, members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), is coached by Billy Gillespie, whom has had previous stops at UTEP, Texas A&M, Kentucky and Texas Tech.
The Texans faced Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. in their season opener and fell 80-50 to the Cavaliers. Devon Barnes led TSU in scoring with 11 points, making all six of his free throw attempts. Izzy Miles was also in double-figures with 10 points, adding five rebounds.
