MIAMI – The FIU men's basketball team came out fast as it overpowered Trinity College for a 146-55 win on Saturday evening at Ocean Bank Convocation Center in Miami.
 
The Panthers, who scored a program record 73 points in the first half, opened an early 20-5 advantage on the strength of five three pointers in the initial 4:07 of regulation and never looked back in a contest they never trailed and led by as many as 94 points in the second half.
 
FIU (4-8) forced a total of 17 turnovers and flipped that into 27 points and outrebounded Trinity College 70-20, including 20 offensive rebounds.  The Panthers limited Tigers to just eight field goals in the first half and seven over the final 20 minutes.
 
A total of nine Panthers finished with double-figure scoring totals, including Jaidon Lipscomb who tabbed a career-high 23 in the victory.  Joining him in double-figures was Jayden Brewer (18), Javaunte Hawkins (14), Mohamed Sanogo (12), Seth Pinkney (12), Arturo Dean (10), Onyx Pastoriza (11), Okechukwu Okeke (11) and Petar Krivokapic (11).
 
For the game, FIU shot .640 (55-of-86) overall from the field – including a .762 (32-of-42) clip in the second half.
 
The Panthers' total of 146 points marked the highest single-game point total in program history, eclipsing the previous best effort of 123 points vs. Palm Beach Atlantic on Nov. 12, 1995.
