The Panthers prepare for their next challenge on the early 2023 season after securing a gritty 4-3 victory over North Florida in their home opener on Saturday (Feb. 11). FIU holds a 23-11 all-time edge over the Knights, having won the last matchup, 4-1, on Feb. 21, 2022, in Miami.

FIU won the doubles point on Saturday prior to rallying behind Ekaterina Khairutdinova's win in No. 2 singles to climb back from a 2-1 deficit and secure the clinch behind back-to-back wins from junior Salma Loudili in No. 6 singles and freshman Oyinlomo Quadre in No. 4 singles.

Khairutdinova and Loudili pace the Panthers with three singles win apiece, seeing both ride a two-match win streak, while Oyinlomo Qudare's timely match-clincher over the Ospreys marked her first career dual singles win at the No. 4 position.

In doubles, Loudili and freshman Katerina Mandelikova continue to gel undefeated at the No. 3 position (2-0), while Yasmine Kabbaj and Oyinlomo Quadre picked up their second win together on Saturday – highlighted by clinching the doubles point over UNF.

FIU's 44th-ranked duo of Kamila Umarova and Ekaterina Khairutdinova slipped in No. 1 doubles to snap their two-match streak as a tandem, looking to get back into the win column Tuesday. Sophomore Yasmine Kabbaj, the C-USA reigning Rookie of the Year, also looks to get back on track this week in collecting her first dual singles win of the season against the Knights.
