DALLAS, Texas (Feb. 14, 2022) – Swimming and Diving competed in the 3-meter dive on day two of the American Athletic Conference Championships on Tuesday. Through two events the Panthers sit in second place with 121 total points.

Maha Gouda put in an overall great performance coming away with silver in the 3-meter with a score of 319.40.

It was a great showing for Gouda in the perlims as she led wire-to-wire and finished first with a score of 313.95 to secure a spot in the finals.
Â
Freshman Ruska Lethonen qualified for the B-Final with a 356.85, eventually finishing third and scoring 16 points for FIU.

In a competitive final, Gouda found herself on the outside looking for a podium spot heading into the final dive. The two-time Olympian stepped up and scored a 60 to jump into second place.

The second-place finish scored 28 points for FIU and marks the first medal for the Panthers in The American.

UP NEXT
FIU is back in action tomorrow for a busy day three. On the docket are the platform dive, the 200-medley relay and the 800-free relay. Prelims start at 1 p.m. with the finals set for 6 p.m. Fans can watch all the action live on ESPN+.
