MIAMI, Fla. – The FIU men's basketball team travels to Murfreesboro, Tenn., looking to notch a season sweep over Middle Tennessee on Saturday evening, as the Panthers take on the Blue Raiders at the Murphy Center for a pivotal league matchup.

Saturday, Feb. 18 at Middle Tennessee (16-11, 9-7 C-USA) FIUAthletics is on Mixlr
The Panthers enter a big C-USA matchup this Saturday, entering Murfreesboro to face a hot MTSU team that dropped league leader No. 25 FAU on Thursday, 74-70, for their first ranked win since 2016.

FIU downed the Blue Raiders inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, 82-74, on Jan. 28, for its first win over MTSU since 2021, as Denver Jones led all scorers in double figures with 21 points and seven rebounds while the Panthers buried 12 threes at a 52.2 percent clip en route to shooting 49.1 percent for the win.

Jones has net 20-plus points in six of the last seven games for FIU, leading the Conference USA in scoring in conference games (20.4 ppg) while averaging 19.9 ppg overall on 50.2 percent shooting, 36.6 percent from three and 84.6 percent from the stripe.

Four-time and current Conference USA Freshman of the Week Arturo Dean stuffed the stat sheet in the last meeting with six points and assists each, seven rebounds and four steals, as Dean needs just one steal to pass FIU legend Carlos Arroyo and set a new freshman single-season steals record (66) at FIU.

Nick Guadarrama, Dashon Gittens and Javaunte Hawkins each pitched in 12 points apiece in the last meeting between the two squads, as Gittens and Hawkins will be looked upon again in the absence of Guadarrama due to an ankle injury.

Additionally, John Williams Jr. exploded for a season-high 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting and three rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench in FIU's last contest versus Rice in an 84-75 setback, marking his first game in double figures since Nov. 30, 2022, versus Eastern Michigan (13 points).

UP NEXT
FIU returns to Miami to host UTEP inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Thursday, Feb. 23, for a 7 p.m. matchup to be broadcast on ESPN+.
