DALLAS, Texas (Feb. 17, 2022) – Swimming and Diving continued to perform well at the American Athletic Conference Championships on Friday, winning three more medals and setting program records in the 100-breast and the 400-medley relay to raise their point total to 957, just 15 points out of first place.
Sophomore
Christie Chue set a new FIU standard in the 100-breast with her silver medal performance, clocking a time of 59.28.
Graduate student
Kelsie Campbell, Chue, freshman
Oumy Diop and freshman
Harliai Curthoys-Davies posted a 3:35.87 in the 400-medley relay to take first and set a new program record.
The Panthers were strong in prelims eventually sending 10 swimmers into the finals.
Freshman
Nicole Frank took gold in the 400-individual medley with a time of 4:14.53, scoring 32 points. Junior
Ellie Maradyn (4:20.77) and senior
Mia Zahab (4:22.10) would finish sixth and seventh, respectively, adding 46 more points.
In the 100-fly, Diop (53.19) finished in fourth with Campbell (53.97) taking seventh. The Panthers would score 80 points across the three finals heats.
Curthoys-Davies placed fourth in the 200-free with a time of 1:47.41, missing the podium by just .04. FIU would collect 52 total points from the event.
Chue took second in the 100-breast, while freshman
Ingrid Huszar (1:00.72) finished in fifth and senior
Delaine Goll (1:01.63) placed sixth, with the trio scoring 77 points.
Senior
Lamija Medosevic represented FIU in the 100-back finals, finishing eighth (56.04) and scoring 22 points.
Day five closed with the 400-medley relay and another gold as the Panthers took the race and the 64 first place points.
FIU grew its point total to 957 to remain in second place and within 15 points of first place University of Houston.

The American Athletic Conference Championships come to a close tomorrow with six races on the schedule. Prelims start at 11 a.m. with the finals set for 6 p.m. Fans can watch all the action live on ESPN+.
