FIU hosts the Roadrunners in its home finale on Saturday, as the Panthers seek its eighth win in pursuit of a top-five seeding that guarantees a first-round bye into the 2023 Conference USA Championships on Mar. 8-11.

Despite riding a three-game skid, FIU dropped UTSA in their last meeting in San Antonio on Jan. 21, as the Panthers came away with a 77-72 win to notch its first road victory of the season. Denver Jones led three Panthers in double figures with 27 points, while Petar Krivokapic added 14 points behind 4-of-7 shooting from three and Dashno Gittens recorded 12 points.

FIU came up short in an 87-82 clash with UTEP Thursday night inside The Bank, as freshman Jayden Brewer and Dashon Gittens led the Panthers with a pair of career-high performances of 22 points and 17 points, respectively. Brewer connected on 10-of-13 shots, while also tallying career highs of four rebounds and two blocks, while Gittens shot 6-for-8 for his 10th game in double figures this season.

Arturo Dean pitched in 12 points, six assists and three rebounds and steals apiece, while John Williams Jr. rounded out the Panthers in double figures with 12 points and three rebounds.

Dean continues to elevate up the single-season freshman record list, moving into second all-time in single-season assists (94) and seventh all-time in points (330) by a freshman. Additionally, he remains at sixth in the nation for steals (70) and steals per game (2.5).

FIU sits 11-5 at home this season, as a win would match the most wins secured at home under head coach Jeremy Ballard (12, 2018-19).

UP NEXT
FIU travels to face Louisiana Tech next Thursday, Mar. 2, in Ruston, La., as tip-off is slated for a 7 p.m. ET start to be broadcast on ESPN+.
