DALLAS, Texas – FIU women's tennis' Oyinlomo Quadre was named the Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Week presented by Blenders Eyewear, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, as the nod marks the first career weekly honor for Quadre in her first year with the Panthers.
 
Freshman Oyinlomo Quadre recorded a solid week for the Panthers in extending her doubles streak, including a top-40 ranked win against then-No. 7 Texas A&M, and picking up a league singles win to help lift FIU to its first C-USA victory over North Texas on Sunday.
 
Alongside Yasmine Kabbaj at the No. 2 doubles position, the duo dropped Texas A&M's No. 34 Salma Ewing and Jayci Goldsmith, 7-5, to win the doubles point despite a 4-1 loss against the 7th-ranked Aggies last Friday. On Sunday against North Texas, Quadre and Kabbaj clinched the doubles point with their fifth-straight win at No. 2 doubles, 7-6 (5), over UNT's Nformi Stadfany and Olivia Malm, while Oyinlomo collected her third dual singles win this year at the No. 3 position in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, over Malm.
 
The nod marks FIU's second freshman this season to notch C-USA Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, as Ekaterina Khairutdinova received the honor on Feb. 1.
 
UP NEXT
No. 50 FIU is back in action next Saturday, Mar. 4, in Miami when it hosts Maryland at the FIU Tennis Courts. First serve is slated for a noon start.
