MIAMI, Fla. – The 35
th-ranked FIU women's tennis team added its fourth straight win of the year on Wednesday afternoon, notching its second Conference USA win of the season with a 4-0 defeat of Middle Tennessee (8-5) at the FIU Tennis Courts.
FIU won the doubles point for the sixth straight match, extending a 20-7 doubles record through the dual season, as FIU's No. 3 tandem of
Salma Loudili and Katerina Mandleikova notched their third straight win, while the Panthers' 56
th-ranked No. 2 duo of
Yasmine Kabbaj and Oyinlomo pushed their eighth straight win together to secure the 1-0 advantage.
Loudili and Mandelikova rang in the first win on the No. 3 court, 6-4, over Sana Garakani and Cara Szilasi, while Kabbaj and Quadre clinched the point with a 6-3 victory over Noelle Mauro and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt.
FIU dominated in corralling the first three singles win to cap the clinch-clinch win, as Loudili extended her streak at the No. 6 position to three with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Szilasi to push the lead.
Reigning C-USA Athlete of the Week
Yasmine Kabbaj evened her record at the No. 1 position with her fourth straight win, downing Love-Star Alexis in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, while
Oyinlomo Quadre sealed the deal at No. 3 singles yet again with a dominant 6-0, 6-2, win over MTSU's Muskan Gupta.
Loudili leads FIU with seven dual wins on the season (7-3) while
Oyinlomo Quadre follows with a 6-2 mark, seeing both notch their first C-USA dual wins on Wednesday. Kabbaj sits 4-4 on the season at the top spot.
