PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Freshman
Casey Yu (+1) leads the way for the FIU women's golf team tied for fifth after 36 holes of play at the C-USA Championship, as the Panthers sit in fourth after Friday's second round at the PGA National Resort.
Kelly Shanahan (+9) and
Arlynn Spence also hang within the field's top 20 after Friday's action.
Yu recorded a new 18-hole low on Friday, finishing even with a 72 behind a team-high five birdies on the day to remain within the field's top five.
Additionally, Yu leads the 43-golfer field in birdies with nine through 36 holes.
UTSA (+25) used an 8-over second round performance to lift above the Panthers in third, as FIU (+31) finished with a score of 316 on Friday to hold a two-stroke margin over FAU and Charlotte.
North Texas (+2) leads the pack, followed by Western Kentucky (+13) in second place.
Freshman
Kelly Shanahan remains in the top 20 despite a rough second day, sitting tied for 18th after sinking three birdies during Friday's front nine prior to finishing with an 80. Spence shifted up the leaderboard after carding a 76 to finish the evening tied for 20th.
Karissa Kilby (+12) sits tied for 26th, while
Riley Hamilton (+16) rounds out the lineup tied for 32nd.

Saturday's final round at the C-USA Championship is set to begin at 10:27 a.m., with FIU's tee time to be determined later this evening.
