MIAMI (May 19, 2023) - The FIU track and field program qualified nine athletes for the NCAA East Preliminaries, set to take place May 24-27 at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Filippa Miller (pole vault), Nicole Janse Van Rensburg (pole vault), Celia Rifaterra (high jump), Michaelle Valentin (discus, hammer), Qua'liyyah Taylor (discus), Hannah Jansen (javelin), and Christiana Ellina (javelin) qualified on the women's side, while Queshun Watson-Riggins (long jump, triple jump) and Cole Crkvenac qualified for the men. 

"We're proud of the season our athletes have had and excited for this meet," said head coach Ryan Heberling. "The work's been put in and now it's time to execute on a meaningful stage."

Miller is the highest seeded Panther, currently ranked sixth in the pole vault after setting the Conference USA Outdoor Championships record with a mark of 4.35m last weekend. She will look to return to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where last year she earned second team All-American honors.
