Tennis Opens 2024 Campaign with Victory over DePaul

MIAMI — FIU's women's tennis program downed DePaul University at home on Monday afternoon in its season opener at home. 

The Panthers won 6-of-7 points, cruising to a 6-1 win over the visiting Blue Demons. Oyinlomo Quadre and Ekaterina Khairutdinova blanked their opponents at No. 1 doubles to start the match strong.

A short time later, Valery Gynina and Kristyna Hranacova wrapped up a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles to secure the doubles' point and 1-0 lead for FIU.

In singles, Quadre and Gynina both won by 6-1, 6-1 scores at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Khairutdinova earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at the top singles slot, securing the victory for the Panthers. 

Katerina Mandelikova and Salma Loudili were also winners on the day as matches were agreed to be played to completion. Mandelikova won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles while Loudili battled to a 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 5 slot.
