BOWLING GREEN, K.Y. — FIU's men's basketball program suffered a 105-91 defeat to Western Kentucky on the road on Saturday evening in Conference USA (CUSA) play.
The Panthers (7-13, 2-3 CUSA) made 10 first-half threes and trailed WKU (14-6, 3-3 CUSA) 50-48 at the half. After the break, Western Kentucky ripped off a 12-2 run to begin the final period and maintained its double-digit advantage to the finish line.
Petar Krivokapic scored 17 points to lead FIU, making five three-pointers and adding four assists. Arturo Dean had 15 points, five assists and five steals, adding to his status as the national leader. George Pridgett, Jr. contributed 15 points off the bench in just 11 minutes, knocking down five threes.
Dashon Gittens also was in double-digits with 13 points in 18 minutes. Seth Pinkney finished with 11 points and a team-high four rebounds.
As a team, FIU attacked the offensive glass with 13 rebounds and forced 20 WKU turnovers. The Panthers shot it well from the free throw line, making 14-of-15 attempts.
