Men’s Basketball Preps for Three-Game Weekend in Fort Myers at FGCU MTE

The Panthers take on Northeastern, CSU Bakersfield and FGCU

MIAMI — FIU's men's basketball team will take on FGCU's MTE this weekend on Florida's west coast, matching up with Northeastern, CSU Bakersfield and FGCU. 

The Panthers will play three games in three days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday before a nine-day break from competition. The contests with Northeastern and CSU Bakersfield will not have any video stream while the game with host-FGCU will be on ESPN+.

Friday, Nov. 22 vs. Northeastern

Time/Site: 1 p.m. ET / Alico Arena
 

Saturday, Nov. 23 vs. Cal State Bakersfield

Time/Site: 11 a.m. ET / Alico Arena

Sunday, Nov. 24 vs. FGCU

Time/Site: 3 p.m. ET / Alico Arena

FIU most recently suffered a 75-70 setback at home on Monday evening to Howard in non-conference action. The Panthers were led by Jayden Brewer's 15 points. Asim Jones and Travis Gray each had 12 in support. 

Freshman Ashton Williamson continues to produce early in his Panther career, racking up nine points, eight assists and six rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench. 

Brewer is currently sixth in CUSA with 17.8 ppg in four games so far in his junior campaign. He's also in the top-20 in rebounding with 5.8 rebounds per game. 

Williamson currently sits seventh in the league in assists with an average of 4.5 assists per game. Newcomer Vianney Salatchoum is off to a good start defensively with 1.5 blocks per game, sixth-best in CUSA.
