MIAMI — FIU's men's basketball program embarks on a two-game road trip this weekend, taking on Stetson to open up the last non-conference travel of the season.

The Panthers (3-6) will take on the Hatters (1-8) in Deland, Fla. at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. FIU will then continue on to East Carolina for a matchup in Greenville, S.C. on Tuesday evening.

Saturday, Dec. 14 at Stetson

Time/Site: 4 p.m. ET / Insight Credit Union Arena at Edmunds Center

FIU is back in the win column following a 70-63 victory over New College of Florida its last time out. The Panthers won their second contest at home of the season and now will look to notch their second win away from home this season.

Jayden Brewer continues to lead the offensive effort for FIU, averaging 14.3 points per game, ninth-most in Conference USA (CUSA). Ashton Williamson has also been a major contributor in his freshman season, average 8.7 points per game in a team-leading 28.2 minutes per game.

The Panthers faced off with Stetson last season on Dec. 19, 2023 and fell 80-68 at home. Dashon Gittens led all returning scorers with 13 points and six rebounds. FIU was tied with the Hatters 36-all after the first 20 minutes, but Stetson used a 17-5 run to close the game with a victory.

SCOUTING THE HATTERS

Stetson, out of the Atlantic Sun Conference, enters this contest on an eight-game losing streak, most recently suffering an 89-83 defeat to Mercer at home. The Hatters' lone victory of the season came over FIU's last opponent, New College of Florida, on Nov. 4.

Mehki Ellison leads the way for Stetson with his 12.1 points per game, but the Hatters have five players who are averaging double-digit points. The Hatters have shot the ball well from distance this season, shooting 34.2 percent from three as a team.
