Miami, FL - FIU Women's Hoops will travel to Alabama to play Jacksonville state on Saturday, February 24 at 3:30 p.m. ET. It will be the second time the two teams match up this season.

FIU fell to Liberty on Thursday night 71-56. Liberty took control early in the game, establishing a lead with runs of 6-0 and 5-0, maintaining their advantage throughout the match. By halftime, they had built a 35-19 lead over FIU.
The Panthers' offense showed out in the second half, with the team managing to put up 21 points in the third quarter, with sophomore Mya Kone and graduate student Courtney Prenger, each contributing six points during that period. However, despite putting up 37 points in the second half, FIU couldn't fully recover, ultimately dropping only their third conference loss of the year.
Tanajah Hayes had another standout performance for FIU, stacking the stat sheet with 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. With her two steals in the game, she has solidified herself as the 10th all-time leader in steals at FIU. Additionally, Kaliah Henderson emerged as a key contributor, tying for the game-high with 17 points. Notably, Henderson excelled at the free-throw line, sinking eight of her ten attempts, marking her highest free-throw tally of the season. She also made an impact defensively, tallying a game-high four steals alongside six rebounds.
Scouting Jacksonville State
Jacksonville State (9-15, 4-8 CUSA) is coming off an 66-40 loss to Middle Tennessee. The Gamecocks currently sit at sixth in the conference, averaging 58.2 points per game which is last in the conference. A decent defensive team, Jax State allows on average 63.2 points per game, coming in at fourth in the conference.Â
The Gamecocks are led by a guard-forward duo of Kristol Ayson and Bre'Anna Rhodes, who are both averaging 7.9 points on the year. Ayson is also tied for the team lead in assists per game with 1.7 as well as steals per game with one. Junior forward Mya Barnes comes into the game averaging 1.1 blocks per game, good for sixth in the conference.Â
The Panthers will attempt to go for the season sweep of Jax State, beating them in the first game of conference play 75-50.
