BOCA RATON, Fla. — FIU's golf program took on the Paradise Invitational, hosted by Florida Atlantic University, to open its spring season on Feb. 5-6.
The Panthers competed in a three-round event over two days at Osprey Point Golf Club in Boca Raton.
FIU was led by Riley Hamilton and Karissa Kilby, whom both finished with identical three-round scores of 226. Hamilton and Kilby both posted under-par rounds in the second round on Monday as Hamilton finished with a two-under 70 and Kilby finished one-under with a 71. Hamilton, with scores of 73-70, was inside the top-12 after the first two rounds.
Overall, Kelly Shanahan was just behind with a score of 228 while Gabriella Gomez and Arlynn Spence rounded out the top five with scores of 232 and 235, respectively. Shanahan also carded a two-under round of 70 in the second round.
As a team, FIU's second round total of 285 was its best by 16 strokes and was the fifth-best second round total of all 13 teams. The Panthers finished 13th with a total score of 906.
