Pompano Beach, FL. – The No. 12 FIU Beach Volleyball team will head to their neighbors to the north to play in the FAU Invite at Pompano Beach. At the event, they will play the likes of Florida Gulf Coast, Palm Beach Atlantic, #1 USC and #16 FAU.

FIU is coming into the event off a 2-2 Long Beach Invite where they achieved their first win against a ranked team on the year, winning against then ranked #6 LMU 3-2, then going on to beat Santa Clara 4-1. The Panthers are now 11-2 on the year, and second in Conference USA.
The Panthers will take on Florida Gulf Coast in their first match of the invite on Friday, March 15 at 2:50 p.m. FGCU is 9-7 so far this season, but does not have a ranked victory so far this season. FIU has handled business against FGCU in their history, leading the series 8-1. In their second match of day one, FIU will face off against Palm Beach Atlantic. It will be their third time this season playing PBA, going 2-0 against the Sailfish already, winning 5-0 in their first matchup and 4-1 in their second.
During their second day of the tournament, FIU will face two ranked opponents, starting with #1 USC on Saturday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. This will be the first meeting between the two programs since last season when FIU fell to the Trojans 5-0. The Panthers will look to pull off the upset against the best team in the country on the young season.
The Panthers will play their final match of the invite on March 16 at 4:30 p.m. against Florida Atlantic. The Owls are 9-4 so far on the year, and ranked #16 in the country. FAU has two ranked wins this season, beating then ranked #12 Georgia State and #17 South Carolina in their first two match of the year. FAU will look to play upset over rival FIU in the final match of the FAU Invite at Pompano Beach.
