MIAMI - FIU baseball pitcher
Ryan Cabarcas has signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with MLB's Baltimore Orioles, as announced Thursday morning.
Cabarcas spent three seasons as a Panther from 2022-24, making 51 appearances with 21 starts on the mound. The southpaw racked up 203 strikeouts in 156.4 innings pitched combined.

Want to thank God, my family, friends, teammates and coaches who have been with me throughout this crazy journey. Let's go O's!"
The third-year Panther played a significant role in FIU's bullpen, having his best season in 2024. He made 18 appearances alongside three starts in 43.2 innings pitched with 59 strikeouts. Cabarcas sported a 4.74 ERA in addition as the team-leader in saves (6), also a career-high.
The southpaw eclipsed the 200-career strikeout mark in the 7-6 victory against Florida Gulf Coast on April 10. He was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List for his efforts, becoming the first Panther to make the list since 2012. In addition, Cabarcas was named to the CUSA All-Academic Team and CSC Academic All-District, sporting a 3.92 GPA as a Global Strategic Communications major.
Cabarcas becomes the first Panther to be tabbed to the Baltimore Orioles since JC Escarra who was drafted in the 15
th round in 2017.
