MIAMI – The FIU swimming and diving team earned seven total spots on the 2024 CSCAA Scholar All-America teams for the Spring semester, announced by the organization.
Athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.5 to qualify with first team honors going to those who competed at the NCAA National Championships and second team honors going to those that met the "B" time standard or participated in a diving zone qualifier
Paige Burrell and
Christie Chue are FIU's two first team representatives.
Burrell competed in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive, placing top-25 in both events, her best finishes at the NCAA Championships. The graduate student also qualified for the USA Olympic Diving Trials, becoming the first Panther in program history to do so.
Chue competed in the 100 and 200-breast races at the NCAA Championships, while marking the AAC meet record in the 200 breast and school program record in 200 IM.
For the diving team
Ruska Lehtonen, and Mikaela Starr earned spots on the second team.
For the swim team
Delaine Goll,
Ellie Maradyn and
Diana Santamaria were named to the second team.
