IRVING, Texas - FIU men's soccer forward
Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro was named the American Athletic Conference offensive player of the week as announced by the league office Monday.

The honors follow a stellar week for the senior forward logging a combined two goals with an assist as FIU won a pair of games, taking down #10 UCF on Sept. 11 and at Central Arkansas on Sep. 15.

In the thrilling upset 4-3 win vs #10 UCF, Dos Santos Monteiro netted his first goal of the season, scoring in the 18
th minute.

On the road at Central Arkansas, the Cascais, Portugal native aided with a game-winning goal, putting away the Bears on a penalty kick in the ninth minute. The forward followed it up with his first assist of the season, finding freshman
Ron Arie on a pass, scoring in the 71
st minute to put the game away in a 3-1 win.

Through the first six matches, Dos Santos Monteiro leads the team in shots (16) and shots on goal (8), second in the AAC. In addition, the senior has logged a total of 457 minutes on the year with two 90-minute performances.

UP NEXT
FIU prepares for AAC play this Friday, Sept. 20 as they take on the South Florida Bulls from Tampa. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
