RUSTON, La. — FIU's men's basketball program fell 81-64 to Louisiana Tech on the road in Conference USA (CUSA) play on Thursday evening.
The Panthers (7-9, 1-2 CUSA) went down by 20-plus points early, a lead the Bulldogs (12-4, 1-2 CUSA) were able to maintain to the finish line. Jayden Brewer and Jonathan Aybar led the scoring effort with 15 points each. Brewer went 9-for-10 from the free throw line while Aybar was 6-for-8 from the field.
Travis Gray chipped in 11 points in 14 minutes off the bench, knocking down two threes. Asim Jones was 4-for-6 from the free throw line and finished with nine points.
FIU was outscored 25-4 to begin the game and trailed 50-27 at halftime. The Panthers made a push to cut the deficit to 15 points with a Kole Williams layup with 4:01 to go. FIU won the second half, 37-31.

FIU will take on Sam Houston in Huntsville, Texas at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 to conclude its opening CUSA road trip.
