MIAMI — FIU football's Kejon Owens, Jessiah McGrew and Julius Pierce earned selections as Conference USA (CUSA) Players of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon.
 
The Panthers received three selections as CUSA's top performers of the week following FIU's dominant 25-6 victory over Western Kentucky on Tuesday evening. Owens, a senior running back, was named Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season while McGrew, a freshman defensive back, was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week. Pierce, a senior center, anchored FIU's offensive line in the victory. 
 
This marks the first time in program history that the Panthers have had three CUSA Players of the Week in the same week. 
 
Owens rushed for a career-high 195 yards against the Hilltoppers, of which included an 84-yard rush, the longest play of the season from scrimmage for the Panthers. The Miami Central product finished the game with 202 all-purpose yards and one rushing touchdown. His touchdown late in the third quarter put the Panthers ahead 25-6, effectively sealing the marquee road victory for FIU. Owens earned the same award on Sept. 15 following his 173-yard, two touchdown performance against Fla. Atlantic. 
 
McGrew nabbed two interceptions, matching a school-record for most interceptions in a game. The freshman safety currently leads CUSA with his three interceptions and ranks eighth-nationally. McGrew also had two tackles in the game and ended up with 39 return yards on his two takeaways. As a team, the FIU defense allowed no touchdowns and zero points in the second half. 
 
Pierce was instrumental as the captain of the offensive line as FIU racked up 249 rushing yards. The Panthers averaged 6.4 yards per rush and ran the ball 39 times, controlling the ball for 34:38 minutes of game time. FIU's offensive line also surrendered just one sack on 27 drop-back attempts.
