MIAMI – FIU men's soccer defender
Owen Travis has been named the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, while goalkeeper
Beltran Fernandez earned honorable mention recognition, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Travis, a graduate student, delivered the game-winning goal in FIU's 1-0 victory over No. 24 Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 24, helping the Panthers secure their 10th ranked win under head coach
Kyle Russell.
A steady presence on the back line, Travis leads FIU in minutes played (1,202) and has gone the full 90 in seven straight matches and 10 total this season. The Locust Grove, Georgia, native owns two goals and one assist across 14 starts.
The recognition marks his second American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor this season after previously earning the award on Sept. 15.

The result marked his second career shutout, both coming this season. The award is the first American Conference honor of his career.
