MIAMI — FIU football's Sterling Joseph was named Freshman of the Week by Conference USA (CUSA) following an outstanding performance against Sam Houston, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Joseph rushed for 112 yards on just four carries and scored two touchdowns in FIU's dominant 56-16 win over Sam Houston on Saturday. His 61-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter is the longest-ever rushing touchdown scored by a freshman in school history.

Additionally, Joseph is just the fourth FIU freshman with multiple rushing TDs in a game and the first since Silas Spearman in 2013. Joseph joins teammate Shamir Sterlin as the second Panther this season to be named Freshman of the Week.
