SARASOTA, Fla. – The FIU swimming program concluded competition at the CSCAA Open Water National Championships on Saturday morning at Nathan Benderson Park.
A total of 207 athletes from 40 institutions competed in the 5K event, with 89 swimmers in the men's race and 118 in the women's field.
FIU was represented by
Ruby Broadfoot,
Nicole Frank, and
Sianna Savarda in the women's 5K.
Savarda paced the Panthers with a 25th-place finish, touching the wall in 1:00:22. Frank followed in 60th place with a time of 1:02:45.3, while Broadfoot finished 74th in 1:03:31.6.
In the women's race, Ella Dyson of Rice captured first place with a time of 56:05.7, securing her second consecutive CSCAA Open Water National Championship title.
On the men's side, Mevlut Efe Guler of Lynn University claimed the national title, winning the 5K in 52:54.1.
