DALLAS, Texas – The FIU swimming and diving team made a strong start at the American Athletic Conference Championship, securing two medals on the opening night at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
In the 200-medley relay, the Panthers set a new school record with a time of 1:36.60, as the team of
Oumy Diop, Frida Stretre Løbersli,
Diana Santamaria, and
Jessica Shpilko claimed gold. Their performance also set a new AAC Championship meet record, marking the third consecutive year FIU has won the event since joining the conference in 2023.
FIU continued its success in the team diving event, earning a silver medal—an improvement from last year's third-place finish. The trio of
Kristina Keenan,
Brooke Megdall, and
Av Osero accumulated 262.80 points, putting the Panthers on the podium early in the competition.
At the conclusion of the first night, FIU sits in fifth place with 123 points after three events.
