MIAMI — FIU's tennis program earned its second-consecutive 4-0 sweep at home Sunday, this time in style in its new VICE edition uniforms, downing North Texas.
The Panthers (4-2) are now 2-0 in dual matches at the PayCargo Tennis Center in the program's first full season at its brand new, state-of-the-art facility. FIU took the doubles point with 2-of-3 three wins in doubles and cruised to three singles victories for a 4-0 win over the Mean Green (5-5).
Katerina Mandelikova helped to clinch both the doubles point and the match for FIU. Mandelikova and teammate Oyinlomo Quadre partnered up for the doubles point-clinching win at No. 1, 6-3. Mandelikova also clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.
Ekaterina Khairutdinova and Valery Gynina notched the first win of the day for the Panthers with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Khairutdinova also won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Quadre picked up her second victory of the day as well, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
UP NEXT
FIU will head to Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee for some Conference USA action, March 7-8.
