OCALA, Fla. – The FIU swimming program delivered a strong performance at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships (NIC) this week, securing sixth place with a total of 388.5 points.
 
The Panthers finished ahead of several Power Four programs, including Illinois, Arkansas, Utah, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Brigham Young University.
 
FIU recorded 11 top-10 finishes, highlighted by a NIC Meet Record in the 50-breaststroke as freshman Frida Stretre Løbersli posted a time of 27.21, surpassing the previous mark of 27.60 set by former FIU swimmer Sara Gyertyanffy in 2020.
 
The Panthers also earned three top-five individual finishes. Diana Santamaria placed fifth in the 50-backstroke with a time of 24.87, while Ingrid Huszar secured third in the 200-breaststroke, clocking in at 2:13.25. Løbersli added to her stellar performance by taking first place in the 50-breaststroke.
 
FIU's relay teams also excelled, securing three top-three finishes. The 200-medley relay team of Oumy Diop, Diana Santamaria, Jessica Shpilko, and Frida Stretre Løbersli finished second with a time of 1:38.44.
 
The 200-freestyle relay squad, featuring Diop, Tawannah McLemore, Santamaria, and Shpilko, clocked in at 1:31.79. In the 400-freestyle relay, Ana Luiza Daisson, Santamaria, Shpilko, and Imara-Bella Thorpe finished third with a time of 3:18.74.

UP NEXT
The NCAA Championships run from March 19-22 on at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Washington. Swimmer Emma Becker is set to compete.
