MIAMI – The FIU baseball team dropped the second game of its weekend series Saturday night, falling to Jacksonville State 12-3 at FIU Baseball Stadium.
FIU (15-9, 1-1 CUSA) responded quickly after an early deficit, tying the game in the first inning with an RBI double from
Andrew Ildefonso and an RBI single by
Javier Crespo. However, Jacksonville State (15-8, 1-1 CUSA) answered with a five-run third inning to take a 7-2 lead.
The Gamecocks added four more runs between the sixth and seventh innings, solidifying the middle game of the series.
Alex Ulloa provided a bright spot for the Panthers, launching a solo home run in the seventh—his third of the season—while recording back-to-back multi-hit games.
Logan Runde took the loss, allowing seven runs over 2.2 innings while walking one batter.
Tracen Cameron turned in a strong relief performance, tossing three scoreless frames with four strikeouts.
Julian Mlodzinski added 1.1 innings with two strikeouts, while
Ryan Reyerson posted a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts in his second appearance in the Blue & Gold.
Andrew Ildefonso worked the ninth, allowing one earned run.
The Panthers totaled six hits in the contest, with Ulloa,
Kishon Frett, Ildefonso, Crespo, and
Albert Serrano each contributing to the offensive effort.
