MIAMI – FIU men's soccer collected three American Conference weekly honors, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Forward
Pasquale Capriati was named Offensive Player of the Week, goalkeeper
Nigel Van Haveren earned Goalkeeper of the Week, and defender
Owen Travis was selected to the Weekly Honor Roll for their standout performances.
The Panthers went 2-0 on the week with victories over FGCU (Sept. 18) and Missouri State (Sept. 21). Capriati scored in both matches, including the game-winner on Sunday evening. The Altamura, Italy, native leads FIU in goals (4), points (11), shots (14), and shots on goal (9), while tying for the team lead in assists (3). He has appeared in all eight matches this season, making six starts. This marks Capriati's second weekly honor, after earning a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 8.
Between the posts, Van Haveren continued his strong form, recording four total saves across the two clean-sheet victories. The junior tallied one save in the win over FGCU and three more against Missouri State, securing his third consecutive shutout. He now owns six clean sheets for his career. Through seven starts this season, Van Haveren has registered 24 saves—tied for the conference lead. The award is his fourth career Goalkeeper of the Week honor.
Travis added to the Panthers' defensive strength, earning his second career Honor Roll recognition. The graduate student logged 80 minutes against FGCU and 74 minutes versus Missouri State, helping anchor the back line in both shutout wins. He has started seven matches this season and currently ranks fifth on the team with 572 minutes played.
