Swimming & Diving Falls to FGCU on Senior Day

Panthers honored seven seniors prior to the meet

MIAMI – The FIU swimming & diving program fell to the FGCU Eagles, 178–121, Saturday afternoon at the Doral Aquatic Center on Senior Day.
 
In the final home meet of the season, the Panthers recorded 19 top-three finishes, including three first-place performances.
 
Prior to the meet, FIU honored seniors Lutnya Bogdanova, Oumy Diop, Var Erlingsdottir Eidesgaard, Nicole Frank, Ruska Lehtonen, Ana Luiza Daisson and Maria Goncalves for their contributions to the program.
 
Junior Diana Santamaria led the Panthers with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (55.36) and a second-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle (51.88). She was also part of two second-place relay efforts, swimming in the 200-yard medley relay alongside Oumy Diop, Tawannah McLemore and Frida Stretre Løbersli (1:41.36), and the 400-yard medley relay with Claudia Frasca, Carla Mailharrou and Pauline Zeller (3:30.31).
 
Nicole Frank posted a pair of top-three individual finishes, highlighted by a victory in the 400-yard individual medley (4:28.41). She also placed third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.92.
 
Pauline Zeller captured first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.88) and added a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.97). Sophomore Tawannah McLemore earned two top-three finishes, placing second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.55) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (57.23).
 
Claudia Frasca recorded a pair of top-three finishes, taking second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.51) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (57.15), while Ana Luiza Daisson placed third in the 100-yard freestyle (52.74). Sally Olsson added a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.10) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.70).
 
On the diving boards, Kristina Keenan had a standout performance, earning zone-qualifying scores in both events. Her score of 310.43 on the 3-meter board marked the seventh-best performance in program history, while her 278.18 on the 1-meter was a personal best and zone cut.
 
Ruska Lehtonen earned a season-best score of 286.35 on the 3-meter to secure a zone cut and a third-place finish. Brooke Megdall added a third-place finish on the 1-meter with a personal-best score of 251.63 and placed fourth on the 3-meter with a score of 261.75.
