MIAMI– Men's basketball's
Tijan Saine Jr. was named Preseason All-Conference USA, the league announced Thursday. The senior guard from Everett, Wash. transferred from Weber State to FIU this season.
In 2025-26, Saine earned first team All-Big Sky honors as a transfer for the Wildcats, playing and starting in all 32 games at Weber State. He totaled 561 points on the season for an average of 17.5 points per game and led the Big Sky Conference in scoring in conference games at 20.8 points per game. In addition, Saine shot 45.4 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from three and dished a total of 137 assists, good for 4.3 per game
Saine scored in double figures in 27 of 32 games and reached 20 or more 15 times, including each each of the last 22 games. His mark of 561 points was the 27th most points in a season in WSU history. The guard shot 89.6 percent from the free throw line, the third-best percentage in a season in Weber State history and finished second in the Big Sky and 18th in the nation in free throw percentage. In the NCAA, Saine was 18th in free-throw percentage.
Should he equal all those numbers again in 2026-27, Saine would re-write FIU's record books and finish the following: first in free throws made, second in free-throw percentage, fourth in points, fifth in assists and 10th in points per game.
The Panthers were placed ninth in the presason poll. Saine and men's basketball open the season on Nov. 2 against New College of Florida.
