MIAMI — FIU's women's tennis doubles tandem of Aleksandra Simeva and Maria Lucia Araoz-Gosn were honored as the Conference USA (CUSA) Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

Simeva and Araoz-Gosn, playing at the No. 3 doubles slot, played a key role for the Panthers in two CUSA wins over MTSU and Delaware last weekend. In FIU's match with Delaware, the duo secured the doubles point with a 6-3 clinching victory, helping the Panthers to a 4-3 match win over the Blue Hens on Sunday. They also notched a 6-4 victory over MTSU in a 4-1 match victory for FIU. 

This is the first time this season that the Panthers have received CUSA Athlete of the Week honors and also the first time overall for Araoz-Gosn and Simeva.
