MIAMI– FIU men's basketball forward
Corey Stephenson has been invited to participate in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, a pre-NBA draft showcase camp held in Portsmouth, Va. at Churchland High School from April 15-18.
Stephenson, the first-ever FIU player to be invited to the PIT, is coming off one of the greatest statistical seasons in FIU history. He averaged 18.0 ppg, scored the fifth-most points in school history and was named to the All-Conference Second Team, and his .398 three-point percentage was the second-highest in program history, minimum 70 makes. Stephenson averaged 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting over 45 percent from the field, scoring in double digits in all but one game.
To kick off his pre-draft process, Stephenson also appeared in the Reese's Senior All-Star Game at the Final Four in Indianapolis, where he was named East All-Stars MVP after scoring 22 points and making nine field goals to pace his team.
The P.I.T. invites 64 of the best college basketball seniors from across the nation to participate in the four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team. Stephenson has been named to the "Norfolk Sports Club" squad.
