MIAMI– FIU men's basketball landed a big fish in the 2026 recruiting class, inking four-star guard
Trey Beamer out of IMG Academy. Beamer, the No. 85 freshman in the 2026 class per ESPN, is the highest-ranked guard and second-highest freshman recruit in FIU history.
A 6-3 guard who can impact the game at all levels, Beamer is a four-star rated recruit (.9415) by Rivals, 247Sports, and On3. The Martinsville, Va. native was initially committed to Boston College, but reopened his recruitment after the coaching change. He enters as the No. 11 point guard in the country and no. 17 overall in the state of Florida according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
During the Grassroots season, Beamer played for Team United on the Nike EYBL Circuit where he averaged 19.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game during Session 4.
Beamer previously suited up for Carlisle High School before transferring to the aforementioned IMG Academy ahead of his senior season, averaging 25.5 points per game on 60% shooting from the floor and 40% shooting from three as a junior. He also added nearly six rebounds and four assists per game in his final season at Carlisle.
Beamer narrowly missed being the top-ranked recruit to ever sign with FIU, behind forward Dominique Ferguson, who was also rated a four-star (.9684) and played for FIU in 2011 and 2012. He becomes just the second-ever four star and the top-ranked guard in FIU history.
