MIAMI – As FIU Football continues its 25 Moments in 25 Seasons series, we revisit one of the greatest individual performances from wideout T.Y. Hilton in program history.  On Sept. 9, 2011, Hilton delivered a historic night, hauling in a program-record 201 receiving yards and two touchdowns to lead FIU to a 24-17 victory over Louisville at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The win marked the Panthers' first-ever victory over a BCS automatic-qualifying conference opponent.
SETTING THE STAGE Fresh off the program's first Sun Belt Conference championship and bowl victory in 2010, expectations had never been higher for FIU entering the 2011 season.

The Panthers were picked as favorites to repeat as Sun Belt champions, led by senior All-American wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who entered the year as the Sun Belt Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year and one of the nation's most dynamic playmakers.

FIU opened the season with a convincing 41-16 victory over North Texas before traveling to Louisville for a nationally televised Friday night matchup against a Cardinals team that entered the season with lofty expectations following a bowl victory in 2010.

The stage was set for one of the biggest wins in program history.

TY TAKEOVER On Sept. 9, 2011, Hilton put the college football world on notice.

The senior receiver turned in one of the greatest performances ever by a Panther, finishing with an FIU-record 201 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

After FIU's opening drive stalled, linebacker Winston Fraser provided the game's first spark. Fraser intercepted Louisville quarterback Will Stein and returned it 71 yards for a touchdown, giving the Panthers an early 7-0 lead.

Louisville answered with a field goal early in the second quarter before Hilton took over.

Facing third-and-four deep in FIU territory, quarterback Wesley Carroll connected with Hilton on a short slant. Hilton broke free from the defense and raced 74 yards for a touchdown, extending the Panthers' lead to 14-3. At the time, the reception ranked as the third-longest touchdown catch in program history.

Just minutes later, Hilton struck again.

Following a Louisville punt, Carroll once again found Hilton on third down, this time for an 83-yard touchdown that pushed the FIU advantage to 21-3. The scoring play remains one of the longest touchdown receptions in school history.

Louisville trimmed the deficit to 21-10 before halftime, but the Panthers never surrendered control.

FIU added to its lead in the third quarter with a 29-yard field goal from Jack Griffin to make it 24-10 before the defense came through with several key stops. One of the biggest came midway through the fourth quarter when the Panthers stuffed Louisville on a fourth-and-two at the FIU 11-yard line, preserving the two-possession advantage.

The Cardinals added a late touchdown and recovered possession with less than a minute remaining, but FIU's defense slammed the door. On Louisville's final play, an attempted hook-and-ladder ended in a fumble that the Panthers recovered, sealing one of the biggest victories in school history.

Carroll finished 14-of-21 passing for 248 yards and two touchdowns, while Hilton accounted for 201 receiving yards and both receiving scores. Defensively, Jonathan Cyprien led FIU with 11 tackles, while Fraser added eight tackles and the pivotal interception return touchdown.

Hilton's unforgettable performance earned national recognition as he was named National Player of the Week and Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
