LEICESTER, ENGLAND– Former FIU men's basketball guard Julian Mackey has inked a professional contract with the Leicester Riders in Super League Basketball (England), the team announced on x. He becomes the second Panther from the 2025-26 team to sign a professional contract, joining teammate Corey Stephenson (Detroit Pistons).

Mackey was a weapon off the bench for the Panthers during the 2025-26 season, averaging the second-most points on the team with 12.4. He hit 55 threes to also finish second on the team, scoring 10 or more points in 21 of 32 games and 20+ in four. One of the best bench scorers in Conference USA, Mackey was named HoopsHD.com's CUSA Sixth Man of the Year for his efforts.

One of his most notable performances during the season was going an FIU record-tying 12-12 from the free-throw line on Nov. 18 against Fort Lauderdale, joining two others for the most makes at the line in a game without a miss. He scored a season-high 24 points on nine made field goals at LSU (Nov. 13).

Super League Basketball is entering its third season, replacing the former British Basketball League (BBL) as the top-level men's basketball competition in Great Britain. Leicester won the league's championship in its inaugural season, finishing 23-9, but went 15-17 during the 2025-26 season.
