EUGENE, Ore.– FIU track & field's Kylie Neira, who had a standout freshman season in the 305, will be heading back to Florida with some hardware after claiming the bronze medal in the pole vault at the World Athletics U20 Championships, hosted at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Neira, who clinched a spot in the finals with a jump of 4.10m on Wednesday, finishing sixth, smashed her personal-best mark by vaulting to a height of 4.35m in Eugene - claiming bronze in the event. Her bronze is the first-ever third-place finish for the United States in the event, and the highest finish for USA since Desiree Freier claimed silver in the event in the 2014 World Athletics Championships.

The rising sophomore had a strong season for the Panthers, earning a silver medal at the CUSA Outdoor Championships and culminating in a 15th-place finish in the NCAA East First Round in the pole vault in Lexington.
