Brandon Harris was hired as an assistant coach for FIU football in February of 2021. Harris will oversee the cornerbacks in his second stint at FIU.
Harris, who served as a graduate assistant at FIU in 2019, returns to Miami after spending the past season as a defensive analyst at Florida State. Harris is the younger brother of former FIU offensive coordinator,Â

Harris was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, selected 60th overall by the Houston Texans. Harris played six seasons in the NFL, having spent time with the Texans from 2011-14 and later with the Tennessee Titans from 2014-15. Harris capped his professional career in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts in 2017.Â
Collegiately, Harris was a highly decorated defensive back out of Miami (Fla.), becoming a Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, Harris was named a Second Team All-American by Phil Steele and Third Team All-American by the Associated Press. Additionally, Harris was named to the All-ACC First Team (2009) and Second Team (2010) before foregoing his senior season with the Hurricanes to enter the NFL Draft.Â
Harris was a four-star prospect out of Booker T. Washington Senior High School, where he was coached by his father Tim Harris, Sr.Â
A native of Miami, Harris earned his bachelor's degree in sports administration from the University of Miami in 2017, while he double minored in business and sociology.Â
