Biography

A capable three-point scorer who will be asked to man the center position...skillful passer with a good feel for the game around him.

As a Junior (2005-06): Several nagging injuries limited his play to just 20 games with four starts...finished the year averaging 5.5 points per game...showed an excellent touch for a big man with nearly one 3-pointer per game played...recorded a season-best 16 points in overtime at Arkansas State (2/11), which included four 3-point baskets and his season-high three blocked shots...scored 12 points in helping FIU snap an eight-game losing streak against Louisiana-Lafayette (1/21)...contributed 12-point efforts at No. 12 Michigan State (12/18) and against Cal State Fullerton (12/28)...twice grabbed a season-high five rebounds at La Salle (12/20) and vs. St. Bonaventure (12/27)...had as many as two steals, twice, in wins over Louisiana-Lafayette and USF (11/29)...logged 37 minutes of play in the overtime victory over the Bulls.

Southeastern CC (2003-05): Averaged 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 30 games during 2004-05 for the 19-12 Black Hawks of head coach Tim Walsh...grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds in an 83-67 season-opening victory over John A. Logan CC...had as many as 10 boards two other times...scored a career-high 15 points behind three 3-pointers, grabbed five rebounds, had two assists and a steal as a freshman in a win against Elgin CC...matched that scoring high in a 2005 victory over Mineral Area CC...freshman member of Southeastern’s 2004 NJCAA national championship squad but injuries and sophomores ahead of him limited his playing time.

Prep and Personal Data: Played with the Club Boca Junior team where he averaged 23 points and 7.2 points per game...member of several national championship teams including the 2001 South American Tournament with the Argentinean National team, twice at the Argentinean under-18 team (2001-02) and with the under-21 team in 2002...named MVP both years for the under-18 team...selected FIU over feelers from Toledo, Indiana State, UTEP, Wyoming, Ball State and Western Illinois...born August 29, 1985 in Santa Fe, Argentina...son of Ricardo and Liliana Giorgi...international business major and an FIU fall 2005 Honor Roll student.
